Spinal Health Leads to General Wellness

Chiropractors are health care workers who use spinal manipulation for the benefit of pain relief as well as preventive care and long term well-being.  The term spinal adjustment is favored by practitioners, although technically it is really spinal manipulation. There is documentation that it was practiced as long ago as during the times of Hippocrates and in ancient Egypt. Families of bonesetters passed down the techniques of spinal adjustment from generation to generation.

The intention of a chiropractic adjustment is to correct a ‘less than perfect’ spinal alignment, motion, and/or function of a joint in the vertebrate.  There are several ways this goal is achieved. Some have counted hundreds of different techniques and approaches to the practice of chiropractic, here are just a few as a quick overview.

The toggle drop is when the practitioner crosses his hands and presses down firmly on one specific place on the spine. Achieving a solid contact the chiropractor then quickly and precisely thrusts down, thus improving mobility of the joints.

In order to do the lumbar roll the chiropractor places the patient on his side, and then places a fact and accurate manipulative push to the badly aligned vertebra, therefore returning it to its correct position.
